Mechanism of action for
Sonotron Therapy
Nerve Function Hypothesis |

In initial testing conducted by the
University of Wisconsin Veterinary School, the Sonotron was shown to reduce swelling and
increase the range of motion of 49 horses with induced arthritis.
"I find it intriguing that we haven't exactly
pinpointed how it works," says Dr. William Crawford, principal investigator for the
study. "There appears to be an effect of reducing swelling. It may have something to
do with the nerve function, in that it reduces sensitivity to sensory nerves, or it may be
changing the permeability of the membranes. But what's certain is that there was a
significant difference in the horses given this treatment.
